A TRUCK crashed into a US military convoy in Germany, injuring many people and hospitalized 8 soldiers.
The accident, which German officials call an accident, happened on the A3 motorway near Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz, Bavaria, in Monday.
The 7th Army Training Command said an army truck traveling from Hohenfels towards Grafenwoehr pulled over to the side of the highway after it was separated from the rest of the convoy.
As they waited, an articulated truck plowed into one of them from behind.
In total, three US military trucks and two fuel tankers were towed onto a roadside truck full of wood chips that hit them.
The military said there were no known injuries among the WE but eight soldiers were taken to the hospital for a precaution.
Photos showed several vehicles engulfed in flames as thick black smoke rose from the crash site.
Police said wood chips in the back of the truck set the truck on fire.
Fire officials pumped foam and water into the vehicles to put out the flames.
More than 40,000 US service members are stationed in Germany, where Allied forces established a base after World War II.
