Many Venezuelan children dream of becoming professional baseball players, however, not all of them have the financial means or opportunities to show their talents. Thanks to initiatives like RBR Sport, and with partners like David Faraco Heredia, these young potential athletes can train to become sporting professionals.
Baseball has become one of the most popular sports in the world. Specifically, Venezuela has a huge fan base that follows its leagues, competitions, and events, and the players considered true heroes. This is the main reason why many children dream of becoming professional baseball players.
However, this desire is more often than not never seen through to fruition, due to the limited economic resources of their families. These tough circumstances force children to work at an early age or to dedicate themselves to other tasks, such as caring for younger siblings or older relatives. For this reason, help from the highest levels is always very welcome, giving young people a real opportunity.
RBR Sport Baseball Academy
Venezuela is a country that is going through many economic difficulties, which negatively impacts children’s access to sporting activities. Because of this, a new solidarity initiative has been created by the RBR Sport Baseball Academy, located in Maracay. The objective of this academy is to help 11-year-old children by training promising players who have the potential to go on to become baseball professionals.
It is a project that aims to help underprivileged children to have all the necessary conditions and tools to become professional baseball players. Thanks to this idea, hundreds of young people have the possibility of overcoming their economic conditions and avoiding being subjected to child labor, which many are forced to do.
Who is behind the RBR Sport Baseball Academy?
This initiative has been made possible thanks to Raymond Blake, creator of the idea, in conjunction with his partners in the RBR Sport Baseball Academy, David Faraco Heredia, and Amado Faraco. This support has made possible the construction of facilities that guarantee the comfort and training for the children athletes including all meals, equipment, and professional guidance from industry trainers.
What the Academy offers them
A lot of thought has been given to ensuring that the children are cared for, which is why the baseball academy offers them accommodation, sports training equipment, and nutritious food. Their health is looked after at all levels, not only physically, but also emotionally and mentally, with nutritionists and psychologists on hand. Each of these aspects is covered by the funding provided by David Faraco Heredia and Amado Faraco.
This solidarity initiative, and part of the academy ethics, ensure that the families of these underprivileged children do not have to worry about the finances needed to have a better future. The RBR Sport Academy also provides them with the necessary, and specialized training equipment to prepare themselves in the best possible way. Thanks to this solidarity initiative, the academy currently has more than 15 players who already show promise of becoming professional baseball players.
Success stories
Good results have already been achieved, a specific case is that of Yeison Oviedo, whose signing year is 2024. Due to the great talent he showed, in 2021, he was awarded the most outstanding player of the academy selection. His talent and skills, and with the help of the school, have allowed him the opportunity to sign with a prestigious organization in the sport.
This initiative has made it possible for Yeison Oviedo and the other children to have a secure future, because this academy works hard for them and looks after their upcoming generations.
As you can see, the RBR Sport Baseball Academy is having a great impact on the future of promising young baseball players in Venezuela whose economic situation is not favorable, but who, undoubtedly, have the natural talent to reach the top in this sport.
