Training and Hard Work: The Foundations of the Best Horse Racers
Horse racing has been one of the sports that have remained over time and is one of the most attractive for betting. Although the practice itself seems simple, there’s a great deal of work involved that we usually don’t see.
However, to feature in today’s racecards, many qualities are required: an experienced jockey, an exemplary horse and an excellent training team.
From Nobody to Northern Carolina’s Second Best
Isidro Tamayo proves that optimal training equipment and hard work pay large dividends. Being supported by understanding owners and a team that favours a thoughtful approach to the condition of both rider and horse has made him a frequent winner over the past few weeks in North Carolina.
The 36-year-old trainer notes that this is the third year he has been running inside Ferndale, and thanks to his experience and his team’s strategy, he can continue to do so with good results. A total of 10 horses are rotated to allow the trainer to practice while keeping the animals fresh and ready for the races.
This strategy has proven to work with Tamayo having won a total of 85 races in the last two seasons he has participated in, making him a safe bet and one of the most reliable trainers in all the circuits he has raced in.
An Impressive Career: Full of Highs and Lows
The trainer has now earned a total of 402 career wins out of 2,037 starts. However, 1,120 of those races represent a top-three finish, which has earned him a total of $6.8 million for his stable.
Yet, the trainer didn’t always have this magnificent streak. His career started at the bottom, serving as caretaker for Gil Matos in 2004 and earning his title as an assistant by 2007. After 10 more years, he managed to get his position as a trainer in 2017 when he only owned two horses within his stable and couldn’t take part in many races because of it.
Today Isidro has come to have 70 animals within his stable, allowing him to use 10 horses per race. Even so, it’s evident that without the help of the jockey Abraham Chavez and all the hard work of his team of caretakers, he couldn’t have made his horses today one of the most critical horses to consider when entering any race.
