What do you need to know about Global Talent route in the UK?
In recent years, the Global Talent visa has become especially popular. People with professional achievements can hear it.
What is a Global Talent Visa?
The British Global Talent visa gives you the opportunity to work for hire in the UK, as well as simultaneously engage in entrepreneurship, freelancing, study or just live in the UK. A talent visa is issued for up to 5 years.
The Visa in 2023 is intended for leaders in the following areas:
- Science and research
- Culture and art
- Digital technologies
… Each of which, in turn, is divided into several more components. For example, “Culture and Art” consists of architecture, fashion, film/television and combined arts. In general, the spectrum is quite wide.
Main advantages of the Global Talent visa:
- Does not require an invitation to work from the employer.
- The UK government does not require financial statements and confirmation of the availability of funds in your account.
- According to Global Talent, there are no English language requirements. You do not need to pass additional tests and provide certificates.
- According to it, you can transfer your spouse, children and even a civil partner to the UK, with whom you are not signed (more on this below).
- It imposes almost no restrictions on employment, such as, for example, a Skilled Worker work visa. With a talent visa, you can be self-employed, work under an employment contract with an employer, or start your own company, hire employees.
How to apply?
The process of recognizing you as a talent, in terms of Tech Nation, is called “endorsement”. You can apply as an Exceptional Promise or Exceptional Talent. They have a very similar list of requirements with the only difference that there is less demand with an Exceptional Promise. The only difference is the timing of obtaining ILR and citizenship. In the case of Exceptional Talent, this is 3 years before ILR and 5 years before citizenship. In the case of an Exceptional Promise, these are 5 and 6 years, respectively.
Step 1. The first task that you will have to face in this case is to collect all the necessary documents. These include:
- CV — resume, where your personal information is indicated and the main achievements are listed.
- Personal Statement is a kind of essay (maximum 1000 words) that requires answers to several specific questions about your potential activities in the UK. Here it is necessary to briefly explain what benefits the country will receive from you and your talent. The Personal Statement must be up-to-date and match the rest of your application.
- Letters of recommendation — three letters from three different reputable organizations recognized as experts in the relevant field and familiar with your work personally.
- Proof of your merits — up to 10 certificates (awards, publications, awards, contracts) confirming your recognition and/or exclusivity.
Step 2. Get approval from Endorsement Bodies (approx. Approving organizations) that will evaluate your awards and achievements based on the documents provided.
Step 3. Apply for a visa.
Step 4. Get a BRP (Biometric Residence Permit) card.
As you can see the process of obtaining a Global Talent visa is not easy, but it is worth it.
