Pokemon GO Charged Embers Hatch Day Event Guide
Pokemon GO wraps up 2024 with an exciting Hatch Day event. The Charged Embers Hatch Day brings Elekid and Magby as featured Pokemon with better shiny rates. Players can enjoy half egg hatch distance, special research tasks, and event bonuses. The event runs from December 27 through December 29, 2024. This short but rewarding event gives trainers a great chance to add rare shiny Pokemon to their collection.
If you don’t have the time to grind out all these events but you still want the different Pokemon, then don’t worry because U7BUY has you covered with a Pokemon Go account for sale. Head over to their site and check out all the different accounts that they have now!
Event Schedule
The Charged Embers Hatch Day event has two different time periods. The extended bonuses start on Friday, December 27 at 10:00 a.m. and last until Sunday, December 29 at 5:00 p.m. local time. The main event happens on Sunday, December 29 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. This gives you just three hours for the core event activities. The extended bonus period helps you prepare by hatching eggs before the main event starts.
Featured Pokemon

Elekid and Magby are the stars of this hatch event. Both Pokemon hatch much more often from 2 km eggs during the event. You also get better chances to hatch their shiny forms. These baby Pokemon need candy to evolve into stronger forms.
Here are the featured Pokemon details:
| Pokemon | Perfect Hatch CP | First Evolution | Final Evolution | Evolution Candy |
| Elekid | 689 CP | Electabuzz (25 Candy) | Electivire (100 Candy + Sinnoh Stone) | 125 Total |
| Magby | 756 CP | Magmar (25 Candy) | Magmortar (100 Candy + Sinnoh Stone) | 125 Total |
Both Pokemon can be shiny during this event. The shiny versions have different colors that make them special to collect. Elekid becomes green when shiny, while Magby turns pink.
Event Bonuses

Active bonuses during the extended period (December 27-29):
- Half egg hatch distance for eggs placed in incubators
- Better chance to get 2 km eggs from PokeStops
- Event-themed Field Research tasks at PokeStops
- Special bundles in the shop
The half hatch distance is the biggest bonus. Eggs that normally need 2 km to hatch only need 1 km during this time. This lets you hatch twice as many eggs with the same amount of walking. Use this bonus to clear out your egg inventory before the main event.
The increased 2 km egg drop rate helps you stock up on the right eggs. Spin as many PokeStops as possible during the extended period. Fill your egg slots with 2 km eggs before Sunday afternoon.
Research Tasks
The event offers both free and paid Timed Research options. Free Timed Research gives you rewards like Super Incubators and XP. You can complete these tasks during the event to earn bonus items.
Free Timed Research rewards:
- Super Incubators
- Experience Points
- Stardust
Paid Timed Research costs $0.99 and gives better rewards. The ticket also provides a special bonus during the event. Players who buy the ticket get 2x Hatch Stardust for all eggs they hatch. This doubles the Stardust you earn from hatching Pokemon.
Field Research

Event-themed Field Research tasks appear at PokeStops from December 27 to December 29. Complete these tasks to earn Stardust and XP. The tasks focus on hatching eggs and walking.
Field Research task rewards:
| Task | Possible Rewards |
| Hatch an Egg | 750 Stardust, 1500 XP |
| Walk 1 km | 250 Stardust, 500 XP |
These tasks are simple but give good rewards. The egg hatching task pairs well with the event bonuses. Use the half hatch distance to complete these tasks faster.
Shop Bundles

Special bundles are available during the event. These bundles help you hatch more eggs and get better rewards. Two different options are in the shop.
Ultra Hatch Box ($19.99):
- 15 Super Incubators
- 10 Incubators
- 5 Poffins
This bundle is in the Pokemon GO Web Store. You can buy up to three per customer. The Super Incubators hatch eggs 1.5 times faster than regular incubators.
Hatch Box Bundle (925 PokeCoins):
- 5 Incubators
- 5 Super Incubators
- 2 Lucky Eggs
This bundle is in the in-game shop. It costs PokeCoins instead of real money. The Lucky Eggs double your XP for 30 minutes each.
Playing Smart
Start preparing before Sunday afternoon. Use the extended bonus period from December 27 to hatch your current eggs. Clear out your egg inventory so you have space for new 2 km eggs. The half hatch distance makes this easy to do.
Stock up on 2 km eggs by spinning PokeStops during the extended period. Fill all nine egg slots before the main event starts on Sunday. This gives you the best chance to hatch Elekid and Magby.
Use incubators wisely during the three-hour event window. Put eggs in Super Incubators to hatch them faster. Save your infinite incubator for regular gameplay after the event ends. Use Premium Incubators and Super Incubators during the event for maximum hatches.
Consider buying the paid research ticket for the 2x Hatch Stardust bonus. This bonus works on every egg you hatch during the event. If you plan to hatch many eggs, the doubled Stardust adds up quickly. The $0.99 cost is worth it for active players.
