What time does Season 13 start?

Apex Legends’ Season 13 debuts on May 10 at 10 a.m. PST/6 p.m. BST. After the Saviors season starts, you can test the new legend and map reworks.

Newcastle: The new legend

Newcastle in Apex Legends isn’t a Geordie city (opens in new tab). Instead, he is a knight with a shield who can fortify a location.

The Season 13 video made a hint about Newcastle’s entire attire. First, Newcastle sets up a mobile energy shield operated by drones. Then, he restores Pathfinder using his Retrieve the Wounded passive while placing another barrier. According to the teaser, his ultimate, Castle Wall, can resist more damage than Rampart’s defenses.

• Build a mobile energy barrier with a controlling drone.
• Resurrect and shield downed teammates with your Revive Shield.
• Slam an ally or target to construct a stronghold.

Adding a hard-cover legend may be an attempt to spice up the Gibraltar meta, but Wattson and Rampart have been disappointing. Expect to run into walls in the first few weeks of the season because Apex likes to launch overpowered new heroes.

Ranked rework

The largest upgrade to Apex’s Ranked system will come in Season 13. Season 13’s ranked redesign eliminates the de-ranking safeguard (You can descend tiers within a rank, but never below the bottom tier). Instead, Respawn says tier demotions benefit players who get promoted but cannot move up the ranks. In addition, you are protected from tier demotion after three losses.

To emphasize “Skill and Teamwork,” changes have been made to the kill timer and assist timer. Respawn: “Now when someone kills, everyone on a squad gets RP.” There is no ceiling on RP for kills; however, the initial value drops with each kill. The revive timer resets the assist timer, which has been extended from 10 to 15 seconds.

Map changes

There are now three new maps in Apex Legends Season 13 – Kings Row, Shrine, and Junk Junction. Kings Row is a small map set in a hospital, Shrine is a large battleground with two temples on opposite sides of the map, and Junk Junction is a small battlefield inside an old junkyard. 

Storm Point, the newest map for Apex Legends, has taken a beating. A big enemy crab that Our Legends kill is now a new POI called Downed Beast. ECHO has arrived to clean up, but the area around the beast’s torso contains high-tier loot places, including its tents and massive crane. In addition, you can climb inside or zipline above.

More intriguing are IMC Armories that rip through the sand. These loot vaults are stocked with weaponry and attachments, but grabbing them will summon AI-controlled Spectres. You have 60 seconds to exit the room or launch yourself into the air to collect your reward.

Battle pass

The package and the Season 13 Battle Pass are available for 2,800 Apex Coins. It includes voice lines, banners, voice packs, holo-sprays, themed skins, soundtrack packs, and loading screens.

Fuse, Bloodhound, Pathfinder, Mad Maggie, and Newcastle all gain rare equipment from the season’s battle pass. Apex’s website provides additional information.
