£3m Fund Pledged by GambleAware to Abet Responsible Gambling Practices
GambleAware has announced that it would invest £3 million ($3.6 million) in two new gambling harm reduction initiatives. The Community Resilience Fund and the Aftercare Funding Program are both intended to assist GambleAware in its efforts to combat gambling damage and health disparities in underserved areas.
Anna Hargrave, the Chief Commissioning Officer at GambleAware expressed that the GambleAware team was thrilled to introduce the two funding initiatives. She further added that these initiatives will develop capacity across charities and organizations to effectively respond to gambling harms in their communities and help individuals in long-term recovery
In order for persons receiving treatment for gambling addiction to start rebuilding their lives, the £2 million Aftercare Funding Programme seeks to collaborate with charities and organizations to offer support services. Small businesses or new initiatives may get up to £150,000 from the fund, while bigger businesses may receive up to £350,000.
The Lived Experience Council, a programme aimed to combat gambling damage by interacting with communities through ambassadors who have direct lived experience, put out a call for applications in June 2022.
Owen Baily, a well-known Lived Experience consultant, spoke about the initiatives. He said that the launch of these two Aftercare Funding efforts from GambleAware was the need of the hour and is going to be accepted with arms wide open. He added that the initiatives will play a key role in averting problem gambling and the harm caused by it since it will fund a series of smaller projects.
The £1 million Community Resilience Finance was created to quickly and temporarily fund organizations in order to respond to the exacerbations of gambling damage brought on by financial hardships. Applicants for new organizations and charities will be eligible for up to £100,000 over a 12-month period. CCO Anna Hargrave also remarked that organizations will get assistance from the Community Resilience Fund to address particular community needs and the disparities that exist there.

Self-Assessment Questionnaire
Many online casinos offer a questionnaire that you can answer in just a few minutes. When you answer this honestly, you will receive a score at the end which tells you how much you are at risk of developing gambling addiction. If you’re at high risk, it might be better not to indulge at all.
Self-Exclusion
By opting to self-exclude, players can have their online casino account temporarily suspended and their access revoked. This way, even if the player has a weak moment and wants to play, they will not be able to access their account unless and until the cool-off period has been completed. Some casinos will also share their self-exclusion list with other online casinos so that the player cannot open a new account at another online casino either. Self-exclusion is a temporary measure to allow the player to cool-off, but the player may also opt to permanently self-exclude.
Session Time Limit
When gambling, particularly online, it is easy to lose track of time as you sit in front of a screen and keep spinning the reels. By using session time limits and reality checks, you will not inadvertently play for much longer than you initially planned to.
Deposit Limit
Having and sticking to a gambling budget is a fundamental practice for safe and responsible gambling. Players can enforce these limits by setting weekly or daily deposit limits on the online casino accounts. Once they’ve reached the limit, they will no longer be able to make deposits and will have to wait it out until the limit is reset the next day or week.
Loss Limit
Many times, players try to make up for their casino losses by playing even more and hoping they recover the losses. This is called chasing losses and is usually a bad idea and ends up only costing the player even more money. Instead, at online casinos, players can setup a stop loss called a loss limit and once the player has lost that much money, they will no longer be able to play anymore until the limit is reset. The loss limit can generally be set for a day or for a week. To guarantee a healthy relationship with online gambling is maintained, the key is to treat it as entertainment and only play with that sole reason in mind. Keep things light and only play for fun. Never chase losses and always stick to your pre-planned time and budget limits.
