The forward is expected to be out eight months after undergoing knee surgery and is unlikely to return until mid-next season.

The surgery on his left knee was intended to repair damage from a previous anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Earlier this week, Ibrahimovic revealed on Instagram that he “played without a cruciate ligament in his left knee” for six months and “hardly slept” during that time.

There was speculation that the legendary striker could call it a day, but he said he intends to move on.

He made 23 league appearances for AC Milan in his title-winning season, scoring eight goals and providing three assists.
