In a recent interview with Collider, Levi made a bold statement when asked about his thoughts on the second movie: “I’ll say that I’m really – and this isn’t just lip service – I’m really proud of the first one. First, I think we made a really, really good movie. I think the second one is better. I think we have more time, we have more budget. Basically, the whole cast returns, and we all know our characters a little better; we could sit in them a little more. Henry Gayden, first screenwriter, wrote the screenplay. Monday, and he did a great job in doing so. Things just undulated a little more and a little more.”
Levi went on to note that young actors age as well as children, and so their greater maturity helps him connect more with the Asher Angel version of his character. He said that relationships, villainand the action in the movie is also great and he is very proud of what they have created. Levi even said that he wants “Shazam: Fury of the Gods” to be released earlier than 2023. Though, it’s very unlikely that it will, given that Movie “Black Adam” Starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the lead role is slated to be released in July 2022. Black Adam is Shazam’s main rival, so a crossover movie is expected in the future, if not officially confirmed.
Only time will tell whether Levi’s claims will be proven true when “Shazam: Fury of the Gods” hits theaters in 2023.
