Zach Wilson’s mum Lisa is “proud” of her son as she defends the Jets star from fan criticism after the disastrous loss to the Patriots

ZACH WILSON endured a rough afternoon as the Jets lost to the Patriots – but his mom Lisa was as proud as ever.
The 23-year-old quarterback star went cold on offense as the 5-3 Jets lost 17-22 at MetLife Stadium.

Wilson threw three interceptions during an error-strewn outing but still managed to rack up 355 passing yards.
Ball security was an issue for the former runner-up, who made just 20 of his 41 pass attempts.
The Jets came into play after losing rookie running back Breece Hall and offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker and suffering season-ending injuries.
And the loss of Hall meant they couldn’t get anything started on the ground, instead relying on Wilson to power things through the air.

However, the youngster couldn’t match, throwing key interceptions at crucial moments of the competition.
One particular throw was branded “terrible” by fans after Wilson ignored a wide-open Denzel Mims to throw a floating pass into hard cover.
Wilson was joined in the stands by mum Lisa, who told her 123,000 Instagram followers that more than twenty relatives had flown in for the grudge match.
Optimism ran high before the game, but the Jets are now down thirteen straight games to the Patriots.
And coach Robert Saleh didn’t hold back on his young quarterback after the game, admitting that Wilson had made mistakes.
He said: “He needs to play better. We must find ways to help him.
“As coaches we have to figure out how not necessarily to make it easier but to help him develop and develop further. He’s still a young man.
“Playing as a quarterback in this league isn’t easy. Together we have to make it better for him.
“Obviously he needs to be able to do what he’s been doing for the past four weeks, to do the easy things and not put too much pressure on himself to do more than you have to.”
While wide receiver Elijah Moore delivered a brutal shot over Wilson’s arch in his post-game comments.
“HE BELONGS ON THE FIELD”
When asked about his chemistry with the 23-year-old, he replied: “I don’t get the ball. I don’t know.”
Wilson’s mother Lisa quickly took to Instagram after the loss and posted a shot of her son in action with the caption: “So proud of this boy”.
And she kept up the positive attitude despite Jets fans taking to social media furious at their QB’s rookie mistakes.
One wrote: “Zach Wilson is like Patrick Mahomes drunk playing every game.”
Another exploded: “Wilson’s actions, body language and post-game comments told me he stopped on the field.”
While a third said: “Zach Wilson has the mechanics/footwork of a freshman college QB at the moment. Its mechanics are completely broken.”
Lisa has been an avid supporter of her son’s career and is regularly seen at Jets games to cheer him on.
She made headlines earlier this year after Zach’s ex-girlfriend made the bizarre claim that he was having an affair with his mother’s best friend.
Abbey Gile reportedly made the shocking claim after her new beau and Washington Commanders star Dax Milne shared a snap of the loved-up couple on his Instagram.

Abbey and Zach split in January 2022 after dating since they were teenagers.
The Jets will look to get back to winning ways when they take on the in-form Buffalo Bills next Sunday, November 6th.
