Don’t mess up your headphone cord

You may want to bundle up your headphones and put them in your pocket when you’re done, but this could cost you.

Tension on the rope can damage the connection points or sever the inner ligaments.

This can cause your earphone or headphone cord to look good on the outside but very easily damaged on the inside.

Try using a carrying case for your headphones or a loose loop of wire and tie them up with a Velcro cable tie.

Preferably a hard carrying case as it will prevent them from getting crushed in your pocket or bag.

Don’t keep turning up the volume

Just as you can blow up speakers by playing music too loud, you can blow up the drivers in your headphones and ruin the sound quality.

Try keeping the volume at a moderate level when you can and you’ll save your ears too.

You should also lower the volume on your device when you remove the headset and adjust it after you plug it back in.

This can help avoid accidentally blowing up the drivers.

Don’t forget to clean your headphones and buds

Earwax in headphones can do some real damage.

Some models are water resistant and can be washed under the tap.

However, you won’t want to run your AirPods underwater.

Try using a dry microfiber cloth or earwax cleaner so you don’t push the wax deeper into the speaker.

The amount of dirt lurking in your iPhone will make you gasp… and it’s the headphones that are REALLY giving you a stomachache.
