MILK is one of the most popular household grocery items.

We use milk for things like cereal, coffee, smoothies, and scrambled eggs — just to name a few.

But sometimes, milk goes bad before we even remember buying a new jar at the grocery store.

Luckily, TikTok cleanup expert @Neat.Caroline says she knows tips to make it last longer.

“Keep your milk out of the fridge door and on the top shelf or in the middle of the coldest place,” she reveals.

In the video, she offers some other storage tips to extend the shelf life of your groceries.

“Store nuts and seeds in the fridge to keep them fresher longer,” she says.

Caroline claims that this method will allow your nuts to last up to six months.

Her third tip is another dairy-related one: “Keep the cheese wrapped in parchment, letting it breathe while preventing mold growth.”

Caroline claims that parchment retains moisture.

Next, she moved on to the fruit store.

“To keep your berries fresh, line a glass container with paper towels to absorb moisture and prevent mildew.”

She closed the lid of the glass container and placed it on the refrigerator shelf.

Her fifth tip for all those who like soft, spreadable butter: “If you prefer room temperature butter, use salted butter instead of unsalted butter to make it last longer.”

And finally: “Put the ginger in a plastic bag so that the air being pushed out in the drawer is crispier,” she says, as she places the Ziploc bag in the fridge drawer.

“This will block oxygen and moisture.”

Viewers in the comments section complimented her on the trick, of which her fan favorite is the berry:

“OMG raspberry hack changes the game,” one person wrote.

Another asked Caroline to wash the berries first or just when she intended to eat them. Caroline replied:

“Great question! Only if you’re going to eat them — otherwise moisture will make them soggy and more susceptible to mold.”
