Maybe you’re trying to hide a screenshot of a birthday present, a photo of your weight loss progress, or something more intimate.

Whatever the reason, your iPhone makes it very easy to hide photos.

There are two important things to note.

One is that you can hide photos, but two, you can also hide the iPhone’s Hidden folder itself.

So you get double protection from nosy friends.

“When you hide photos and videos, they move to Hidden Albums, so they won’t appear in your Gallery, in other albums, or in the Photos widget on the Home screen,” Apple explains.

“With iOS 14, you can turn off Hidden Albums, so the photos are completely hidden.

“You can show photos and videos and re-enable Hidden Albums whenever you want.”

How to hide iPhone photos

To hide a Photo, select an image, then tap the Share button – it looks like an arrow sticking out of a box.

Then select the option to hide the photo or video.

You can also select multiple photos and hide them all at once.

To show the image, just follow the same steps but choose to unhide.

Hidden Albums is on by default and is under the Albums tab in Photos – right near the bottom.

You can turn this off by going into Settings, tapping Photos, scrolling down, and turning Hidden Albums off.

Your hidden photos will remain hidden, but they won’t show up in the Photos app.

If you’re particularly paranoid, you can move the Photos app off the Home screen.

But the Photos app will always be installed on your device and easily searchable.
