Your PS5 has a HIDDEN web browser – here’s how to find it

THANKS for the PS5 shortage, there are still a lot of new owners out there who don’t know their console has an internet browser.

Like the PS4 before it, the PS5 has a web browser but it’s not obvious to access.

The PS5 web browser lets you search but you can't enter the URL because there's no address bar

You can pin the browser to your desktop and it will stay there even when you are playing a game

It also doesn’t quite work, in that it won’t let you enter a URL, but it will if your phone, tablet, and PC somehow stop working at the same time.

There is a web browser option in the system settings indicating that official support will arrive at some point.

After all, it took Sony more than a year to release the PS5 glass.

There are a couple of methods involved in learning the system menus, but we’ll make it quick and easy.

All you need is at least one person on your friends list, but if you’re having a hard time finding one, you can create an alternate account and have that account’s name on it. .

How to access the PS5 web browser

This method is definitely the best one available while we wait for Sony to roll out something more official.

Press the PS button on the DualSense to bring up the Control Center menu, which is a row of shortcut icons that overlay whatever you’re up to.

Scroll through Game Base and select it to display your list of friends and parties.

Choose a friend who will happily ignore any messages from you, or choose your alternate account to send a direct message.

Compose a new message and just type ‘Google.com’ and send it its way.

Once sent, the link will turn into a hyperlink that you can click on, which will open a web browser.

There’s no address bar for you to type in specific URLs, but you can use the search bar to find what you’re looking for.

You can also pin the web page to the left or right side of the screen for a multi-window effect if needed.

Simply tap the options button to bring up the menu, select ‘Pin to Side’, select the face you want and confirm your choice with the X button.

To unpin, just press the PS button again to bring up the Control Center and you will see an internet browser tab.

Press the option button on the DualSense and you will be presented with the choice to move it or close it.
