Young woman, 20, dies after ‘disturbing’ at home while man, 19, arrested for ‘murder’

Police have arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of murder after a young woman was killed.

Officers raced to Northwood in Merseyside around 4.40pm yesterday following reports of a disturbance.

The 20-year-old victim was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Unfortunately, she could not be saved and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Police are currently questioning a 19-year-old man in custody on suspicion of murder.

An investigation has been launched and an autopsy will be held to determine the cause of death.

The woman’s next of kin were informed and a cordon was put in place on Quarry Green, where the horror took place.

Detective Inspector Laura Lamping said: “Our thoughts today are first and foremost with the victim’s family.

“We are at an extremely early stage in this investigation and our officers are working to determine exactly what happened.

“Although we have already made one arrest, our investigation into the area continues and we would urge anyone with information regarding this tragic incident to please come forward and speak to our officers.

“If you were on Quarry Green at around 4.40pm this afternoon and saw or heard anything suspicious, please get in touch. Any information you possess could be critical to our investigation.”
