Young girl dies after being stabbed in apartment, mother in custody – CBS Pittsburgh

BEDFORD HEIGHTS, Ohio (AP) – A 5-year-old girl was found stabbed to death in her family’s apartment in northeast Ohio, and her mother has been arrested in connection with the murders.

Bedford Heights police were called to the Southgate Towers complex around 6:30 p.m. Saturday and found the child lying on the bedroom floor. She was stabbed multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

The possible motive for the attack has not yet been revealed.

The girl’s mother was in the apartment when police arrived and was taken into custody, but it was not clear on Sunday if there were specific charges against her. Authorities declined to comment further on the incident, citing an ongoing investigation.
