You did the wrong freckle hack all wrong

FOR the past few weeks, the TikTok beauty community has been going crazy over a hack that promises to create instant freckles using a root spray.

While there have been a number of attempts, many have also been unsuccessful, leaving beauty lovers with dark spots on their faces — ones that don’t look like natural freckles.

One of those people was celebrity UK makeup expert Sophie, who was determined to find a way for the hack to work after claiming it left “big smudges” all over her face.

“There’s definitely a knack for it, you can make it look good and make it look like fake freckles,” said the 25-year-old.

“If you have natural freckles, I think they’re beautiful and I’m very, very jealous.”

Seeking a solution, Sophie, who first rose to prominence after sharing nail art videos on Instagram, came up with a rather unusual answer — which involved using a colander.

“I’m aware that holding a screen over your face is ridiculous — but I’ll try it to see if it leaves any smaller blobs on my face,” she said before demonstrating the hack.

She rocked an on-trend yellow eyeliner look, then shook the product (Sophie used L’Oreal’s Magic Retouch) before holding a strainer to her face.

Sophie sprayed from a short distance, trying to create smaller, more natural-looking freckles with the hair product.

Although the first attempt didn’t seem to produce the look she wanted, the makeup genius tried again – this time with success.

“It works!” she said after explaining that the freckles would probably look better if she wore a fresh coat of light makeup.

The 25-year-old guru also topped it off with some powder – which she claimed will tone down the dark spots a bit.

“I’d definitely try a fresher-looking face, but — who would have thought?”

Viewers were stunned by this trick, with many liking the video – out of almost 40,000 people – and taking it in the comments to share their thoughts.

“Woah wait you might stumble upon something here,” one fan wrote, while there were also some who claimed not to shake the product.

“Don’t shake! and hold it closer to your face and don’t push all the way down, just a little bit,” corrected one.

“I’ve never tried fake freckles, but would spraying them on a brush and then stroking the brush over your face work?” was another suggestion.
