‘You can’t go out in public and say this’ – Trevor Sinclair ‘disrespectfully’ kicks Romelu Lukaku and insists the Chelsea striker should apologize

Former Premier League winger Trevor Sinclair blew away the Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku about his recent comments about Inter Milan and feels the Belgian should apologize to Blues fans.

Lukaku rejoined Chelsea from Serie A champions Inter Milan for a fee of £100m last summer. However, the 28-year-old has yet to get a position in the Thomas Tuchelis eleven that begins at regular intervals.

Fed up with his situation at Chelsea, Lukaku admitted to Sky Italia that his return to Stamford Bridge did not go as smoothly as expected. The Belgian international even attracted the headlines when he expressed his desire to return to Inter.

Lukaku arrives @SkySport: “I really hope from the bottom of my heart that I will return to Inter not at the end of my career but when I am still at the highest level to win more together.” 🔵 #CFC“I want to apologize to the Inter fans, the timing of my words was wrong: what you have done for me will last forever.” https://t.co/4Oz6ztuWMx

However, the comments about Lukaku were not well received by former Premier League winger Sinclair. The England international has criticized the striker for his comments just months after joining Chelsea.

Sinclair believes Chelsea fans deserve an apology from Lukaku after he let them down. He told talkSPORT [via The Mirror]:

“For him to make those comments, I think he should apologize to the Chelsea fans. It’s disrespectful to the Chelsea fans.

“I think that’s disrespectful to the Chelsea manager. I would be surprised if he didn’t talk to Thomas Tuchel about this.

“He may not have the answer he wants but you shouldn’t go out in public and say this. I think it’s disrespectful to his teammates and I think it’s disrespectful to Owner.”

“He’s 28 years old. A lot of Chelsea’s upper line will be counting on Lukaku, I think he has let them down.”

Lukaku has scored for Chelsea in the last two Premier League matches

Lukaku’s comments about his situation at Chelsea seem upset. It’s worth noting, however, that the interview was recorded weeks before it was broadcast on Thursday.

It is said that Lukaku has held talks with Chelsea manager Tuchel. The performance of the former Manchester United striker in the last two matches of the Blues can be a testament to this.

Timing is key because after the Villa game, Lukaku suggested he had some conversations with Tuchel and a few things were worked out. Let’s see…. twitter.com/HLNinEngeland/…

Lukaku has scored in each of Chelsea’s last matches in the Premier League. The 28-year-old inspired Tuchel’s side to a 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Gifts Day and was also on the scoresheet against Brighton on Wednesday.

The Belgian will find momentum when Chelsea take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
