ONCE they had finished cutting all the crisps and inhaling our sweets supply, the next thing our kids turned to was a fruit basket – which means a bag of apples for about one hour. family time.
And while we can’t complain about our kids really like fruit, they tended to take five bites of the apple before tossing it aside.
Sound familiar? Then this TikTok hack is about to revolutionize the way you and your family consume fruit. Yes really.
Earlier this month, American comedian Matt Mayerle shot a video claiming most people only eat about two-thirds of their apples.
This is a useful and meaningful life hack that saves you money on apples because every time you eat one, you throw away a third of it.
“What you refer to as the core doesn’t really exist, it’s the same consistency as the rest of the apple.”

Instead of turning the apple upside down and eating it that way, Matt says you should start at the bottom and work your way up.
When he gets to the middle, he simply separates the seeds and cuts off the stalks.
Dubbed the “legendary” apple core, Matt filmed himself eating the rest of the fruit and then proudly showing off the remaining seeds and stems.
He added: “Maybe now you won’t waste so much money on apples. Now you know.”
The clip has reached nearly 180,000 views since it was posted 3 days ago and left viewers stunned.
One joked: “I realized that if I ate the whole apple, I would throw away the ‘core’.
“But if I cut it, then I just pick the seeds out – so this is true!”
Another added: “I’ve been doing this for years and everyone thinks I’m crazy.”
Meanwhile, a third said: “You’re wrong, the core is structurally different.
“There are air pockets for seeds a number of times and the surrounding area is usually as firm as a tree trunk.”
