‘Yellowstone’ prequel ‘1883’ sets Paramount Plus viewership record

1883 Obviously a very good year for Paramount+.

The streaming service announced on Tuesday that Yellowstone Sunday’s premiere of the prequel set a record as “the most-watched original series premiere ever,” even as Paramount+ was known as CBS All Access.

Paramount + note that 1883 debuted “more than double” the previous record, though it declined to specify which Paramount+/CBS All Access series previously held the title. Other than that, there aren’t any detailed numbers. (But the superlative is the superlative.)

In addition to the streaming numbers, 1883 also brought in a total of 4.9 million viewers through a linear broadcast special on Paramount Network, following the December 19 episode of Yellowstone.

TVLine readers gave an early episode grade point average “B+”; Read our summary.

“The result of 1883The launch of ViacomCBS was truly phenomenal. “First Day’s streaming numbers, along with the results of our linear sampling effort and social response from our audience, show great promise for this series. We look forward to continuing on this epic journey with our subscribers. ”
