The tech giant explains, “You can use the Xbox Accessories app to remap buttons (that is, make the buttons do something different than they were originally intended) as well as create custom controller profiles for your Xbox Adaptive Controller.”

“You can make configuration changes using the Xbox Accessories app on either your Xbox console or your Windows PC, depending on which device your controller is connected to.”

This is a great accessibility feature and useful for people who want to play differently.

To remap your buttons on an adaptive controller, press the Xbox button on your controller.

Then click on “My games and apps”, “See all” and then on “Apps”.

Here you will see the Xbox Accessories app option.

In this case, you must select “New Profile”.

This should allow you to customize the controller in the way that works best for you.

Remember to press B when you’re done for the changes to be saved.

If you have trouble doing this, Microsoft warns with a few words.

The website states: “The Xbox Accessories app doesn’t recognize your controller when using Bluetooth to connect to your PC.”

“Connect your controller via Xbox Wireless, or plug the included USB-C cable into the back of the Xbox Adaptive Controller and the other end into your PC.”

You can also find setup suggestions on the Xbox support page.

This includes recommendations for users with different mobility conditions.
