WWE superstar Michael Mizanian has so far erected eight Christmas trees around his house this season, but he’s not really excited about it.
The TV personality, who watched “The Miz”, wanted to wait to break the Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving, but his wife, Maryse Mizani, feels very different. He opened up about their related annual battle in 3rd hour of TODAY on Tuesday.
“I came home yesterday and there was a box, and I know what this box is. It’s a tree box,” he said. “And when you have seven trees, and now I have eight, you’re going to be a little upset because who do you think was the one to put those things together?”
Maria Shriver, who is filling out Sheinelle Jones, can’t help but wonder why his family needs eight trees, and Mizanian said his wife believes “every room in the house needs a Christmas tree.”
The father-of-two, 41, called it “too much” and said he disagreed with his wife’s early decorating trends.
“Honestly, I don’t think the Christmas tree should be up right now,” he said. Craig Melvin agrees that it should wait until after Thanksgiving.
Of course, “The Miz” knows that his opinion may not please everyone, but he agrees with it.
“I know a lot of people who think you should get them after Halloween. I don’t believe that’s true; I believe you should have them right after Thanksgiving like a normal person,” he said.
His wife clearly takes Christmas very seriously. Mizanian posted several photos of her family, all decorated stood next to their big tree last year. The couple’s two daughters certainly seem to have inherited their mother’s love for the holiday and look absolutely adorable in red Christmas outfits in 2020. The whole family also posed a series of funny photos in pajamas suitable for the holiday.
Psychologists weighed in the debate. Some say decorating for the holidays can be mentally beneficial, and a 2017 study found that decorating early can actually make you happier. At that time, Psychologist Deborah Serani told TODAY that the act of decorating induces a neurological change that can produce happiness.
“Christmas decorations will spike dopamine, a feel-good hormone,” says Serani.
Maryse Mizani is clearly taking that advice seriously, and she certainly won the decorating argument with her husband.
“My wife said, ‘Look, the longer we can keep the plants, the longer we’ll have them,'” he said.
