WWE Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of the Raw main event last night claiming they were “not respected enough”.

The duo was scheduled to attend a match between Becky Lynch, Asuka, Doudrop and Nikki ASH in Norfolk, Virginia.

Naomi was scheduled to win and face Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship at Hell in a Cell.

But she and Banks were unhappy with the event and refused to attend.

A WWE statement said: “When Sasha Banks and Naomi arrived at the arena this afternoon, they were informed of their participation in tonight’s Monday Night Raw Main Event.

“During the broadcast, they walked into WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis’ office, bags in hand, placed their tag team championship belts on his desk and
gone out.

“They claimed they weren’t respected enough as tag team champions.

“And despite having eight hours to rehearse and set up their match, they claimed that they were uncomfortable with two of their opponents in the ring despite having had matches with those individuals in the past without consequences.

“Monday Night Raw is a scripted live television show whose characters are expected to fulfill the requirements of their contract.

“We regret that we were unable to hold tonight’s main event as announced.”

Banks and Naomi received support on social media, with one user writing: “@VinceMcMahon disrespected Sasha Banks & Naomi a long time ago.

“I’m proud of Sasha & Naomi for standing up, walking away and knowing their worth. #WWERaw”

Another wrote: “Union WWE!!! Power the fighters!”

But others expressed frustration with the situation.

One commented, “This is the second time Sasha Banks has left WWE, no surprise.”

A second added: “Unprofessional from 2 of my favorite wrestlers, as an inspiration and role model to fans and young people you just tell them it’s ok to leave work and betray your colleagues/colleagues because something isn’t going your way “
