WWE star Matt Riddle has TWO wins over UFC legend Jon Jones while the two were high school wrestlers.
Riddle, who returns tonight to referee WWE Extreme Rules in the cage with Daniel Cormier, attended Saratoga Springs High School, New York, where he won the 2004 State Division Wrestling Championship.
Representing Union-Endicott High School, Jones faced off against the future pro wrestler in one of these state-level wrestling tournaments.
Riddle later revealed in an interview on the X-Pac 12360 podcast that he had beaten Jones TWICE and wanted to face him again.
He said, “I have. Actually two different occasions. But Jon Jones, he’s matured a bit. I’ve grown up a bit.
“I’d still like to challenge him one day, but we’ll see what happens.”
Riddle starred in the 2008 UFC series Ultimate Fighter but was beaten by Tim Credeur in the quarterfinals.
He later had 12 fights in the UFC, but after failing two drug tests for marijuana within a year, he was released from the promotion in 2013.
Riddle gave up his MMA career in 2014 before making his name in independent pro wrestling.
It caught the attention of WWE King Triple H, who signed the American to NXT, and within two years he was climbing the WWE main roster.

Despite Riddle’s rise to stardom since White fired him, the UFC president insisted he has no regrets about letting him go.
When asked about Riddle, the promoter replied: “No, listen, I have no regrets.
“You know, I’ve heard interviews with Matt Riddle and he’s very excited about being let loose and everything. But in this place and time that we were, it was the right move.
“I’m happy for him, I’m happy he’s succeeded and he’s doing well and I don’t wish the boy ill.
“I don’t hate Matt Riddle or like Matt Riddle in any way. I know he feels the opposite…as he should. But yeah, I don’t wish him any ill will or anything like that. I don’t regret my decision at the time.”
Although it had been a little over seven years since the incident, Riddle was in no mood to forget it.
And he slapped White with a violent reaction to his comments.
Riddle wrote in 2019, “Dana I’m not mad that you fired me, I’m mad because you’re a heartless git with too much money and power and feel the need to call me a loser after you fired me , when I was on a 4 fight win streak and my third child nearly bankrupted me.
“Also saying it was the right call to fire me is the dumbest thing ever, you literally tried to ruin my career/life because you’re a little bald prick who doesn’t control me could, so stop lying, it’s sad bro.”
