In her 2015 DC series, set in an alternate universe, Marguerite Bennett confirmed that Wonder Woman received her first kiss from Princess Mera of Atlantis. In his 2016 Wonder Woman series, Greg Rucka and his associates established Wonder Woman as a singular character who fell in love with one of his Amazon sisters before setting foot in His World. In 2017, even Wonder Woman’s big budget movie for audiences that admits that the Amazons enjoy sex and the relationships between them.
This week, the series about the alternate fantasy world Dark Knight of Steel revealed that its version of Wonder Woman is dating Superman’s sister – the Supergirl of that world. Wonder Woman has implied that girlfriends, off-screen girlfriends, and girlfriends cannot be called girlfriends because writers are living in more homophobic times.
I am not crazy! I’m really more excited about direction of the Wonder Woman line now many years older than me. In fact, there’s also Wonder Woman row book, rather than a single title, is in fact the first for DC Comics. But all the same.
How much longer do I have to wait for Wonder Woman to cuddle a girl on old Earth 0? Edema.
What else is happening in the pages of our favorite comics? We will let you know. Welcome to Funnies Monday, Polygon’s weekly list of the books our comics editors loved over the past week. It’s the social pages of superheroes’ lives, the reading recommendations section, the “look at this interesting piece of art.” There may be some damage. There may not be enough context. But there will be great comics. (And if you missed the final edition, read this.)
Don’t worry about Supergirl’s tears in the image above – it’s not relationship woes. She’s just sad that her father was assassinated by Fantasy Green Arrow.
Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checcheto’s Daredevil It’s a good book The problem is that it weaves a web of plot and characters so well over such a long time that all the good moments lie in all that came before – which you only know if you are reading the book. Not great fodder for this weekly rally. So it’s great that in the first issue of Demon’s Kingdom, a crossover series shot out of Daredevil, Checchetto fixed this three-panel sequence with difficulty and created one of the most reminiscent Ben Grimm images I’ve ever seen.
Batman is off an adventure on earth with a new creative team, a movie that harks back to the days of Batman Inc. when Grant Morrison ran on character.
Helicopter‘the last issue is a great introduction to what is one of the best things about the quirky series of the Krakoan era. This is the best “Suicide Squad” comic I have read in years.
Jonathan Kent, never change.
Every other very important X-Men thing happened this week Inferno don’t read this.
