FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami/CNN) – A Tennessee woman accused of assaulting two flight attendants on a flight from Fort Lauderdale to Nashville is facing federal charges.
On November 27, Amanda Henry was on a Spirit Airlines flight when she became disruptive, appeared intoxicated, and intoxicated during the flight and engaged in lewd behavior with several male passengers, according to the complaint. criminal report.
The passenger sitting next to the 43-year-old woman said she asked to be moved to another seat due to her behaviour.
Since Henry was already seated next to the exit, the flight attendants decided for safety reasons to move Henry to another seat. When they asked Henry to move, she refused and grabbed her bag and ran to the front of the plane shouting, “I’m getting off this plane.”
Another flight attendant blocked Henry from entering the main cabin door and began to restrain her, at which point Henry began kicking and hitting the flight attendant. Henry also assaulted another flight attendant who assisted in trying to restrain her.
When they were able to subdue her, a firefighter on duty on the flight assisted the crew by sitting with Henry and keeping her calm throughout the flight. When the plane landed at Nashville International Airport, Henry was arrested and charged with public intoxication.
After further investigation by the FBI, Henry was charged with interfering with crew members and flight attendants. She submitted her own application on Tuesday, December 28.
If convicted of federal crimes, Henry faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
