Woman on board: Woman still missing as Coast Guard ends search after she falls off cruise ship off Mexico coast

LONG BEACH, California – A woman who crossed the sea while on a cruise ship off the coast of Mexico remained missing Sunday after the US Coast Guard finished its search.

The Southern California Coast Guard headquarters tweeted that after more than 31 hours of searching, their ships were “out of action pending additional information” and headed back to US waters.

According to officials, a woman in her 20s was reported missing on the Carnival Miracle cruise ship around 3:30 a.m.

Carnival officials later confirmed one of the ship’s guests had overstepped from the balcony of her stateroom.

U.S. Coast Guard personnel joined the Mexican Navy Saturday in the search after the incident occurred about 35 miles off the coast of Ensenada, Mexico. At 10:30 am

The FBI waited for the ship to dock back in Long Beach to assist with investigation and search efforts.

Meanwhile, Eyewitness News spoke to a passenger who was startled by the announcement early Saturday morning.

“Around 3 a.m. we were woken up by a general notice on the train with the warning ‘Man is on board! The man is on the train! The man is on the train! “” Daniel Miranda recalled. “So the ship was given limited information. They told us we were having trouble finding the woman, and then they called us to clear it up. The crew was very upset. tight-lipped and of course, they have different areas of the ship cornered to search when they’re searching.”
