Woman ‘kidnapped, drugged and choked to death by her own DAD’ after string of horror murders
A WOMAN was abducted, drugged and choked to death by her own father after the couple had an explosive argument, according to the report.
Taiba Alali was reportedly abducted by her relatives when she returned home to Iraq to support her country’s soccer team.
She had moved to Turkey to start a new life with her Syrian-born boyfriend, whom she planned to marry in 2017, reports The Mirror.
But when Taiba traveled to see Iraq at the Arabian Gulf Cup in January, she was reportedly kidnapped by her relatives.
According to local media, she had agreed to meet her mother at a friend’s house in Baghdad before being mugged by her entire family.
They then reportedly drugged Taiba before transporting her back to the family home in Al-Qadisiyyah Governorate.
After she regained consciousness, she reportedly got into an angry argument with her father.
He later snuck into Taiba’s room and is said to have strangled her.
The father, who was not named, turned himself in to police and allegedly told them he killed his daughter to “wash away the shame”.
He is now being investigated for the murder of Taiba.
But in a horror twist, a bizarre loophole in Iran’s penal code allowed the alleged killer to escape jail.
If the death is declared an “honor killing,” judges can impose lenient sentences on those who kill with “honorable motives” or under provocation.
A March 2021 Interior Ministry report on the law said: “Article 409 of the Iraqi Penal Code allows ‘honor’ as a mitigating measure for violent crimes against family members, and the law allows for lighter sentences for ‘honor killings’ based on provocation or when the accused is ‘honourable motives”.
“The law gives no guidance as to what ‘honorable motives’ is and therefore leaves room for broad interpretation.”
