The park said Thursday that a 71-year-old woman from West Chester, Pennsylvania was the third reported incident in the past year in which a visitor came dangerously close to a bison.

A statement said: “The woman and her daughter accidentally approached the bison while returning to their vehicle at the trailhead, resulting in the bull bison attacking.”

The woman, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, was taken to a Wyoming hospital.

The attack came just a day after another visitor was attacked by the bison.

A 34-year-old man was walking on a boardwalk near the famous Old Faithful geyser.

Dramatic video showed the bison charging at the family, nearly injuring a young child.

Park officials said in a statement that the man sustained an arm injury after being impaled by the beast.

He was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for treatment.

And in May, a 25-year-old woman from Grove City, Ohio was impaled by the giant mammal.

Park rangers said she threatened the animal when she got within 10 feet of it.

The bison pounced on her and threw her into the air, stabbing her.

The park urged visitors to be aware and stay more than 25 meters away from large animals.

It states: “Approaching bison threatens them and they may respond with blunt attacks, head movements, pawing, roaring or snorting.

“These are warning signs that you are too close and indictment is imminent.”
