A woman has died after being thrown in a bus crash to the horror of central London shoppers.
Police confirmed the woman was dead after the double-decker bus collided with her on Margaret Street, London.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at lunchtime on a busy street today and fought to save the woman.
But police confirmed that the woman died at the scene shortly after 1pm.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called by London Ambulance Service at 12:42pm on Monday, 7 March, to reports of a bus colliding with a rider Walk on Margaret Street, W1.
“Officers and London Fire Brigade attended. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene at 13.13. Her family has yet to be notified. “
A London Fire Brigade spokesman added: “Firefighters are involved in a road traffic collision involving a bus and a pedestrian. Crews were called at 12.00pm. :42 pm.”
The Met has also announced that roads are closed around the local area, so make sure you check your route before you go, with queues already forming.
A video posted on Twitter by BBC journalist Anisa Subedar shows traffic due to road closures on some of the capital’s busiest streets, such as Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Street.
