A WOMAN has been charged with murder, rape and torture after the body of a 12-year-old girl was found in a suitcase.
Dahbia B., 24, originally from Algeria, appeared before coroners in Paris on Monday and was charged in connection with the gruesome killing of Lola Daviet, 12.
It comes after chilling CCTV footage showed both the alleged killer and her victim next to the block of flats where Lola lived.
Lola’s horribly mutilated body was later found near the building in the 19th centuryth Arrondissement where she lived with her parents Delphine and Johan Daviet.
They had reported her missing on Friday after fearing she had been kidnapped when she failed to return from school.
Lola’s body was then found bound and gagged in the suitcase, with the numbers 1 and 0 scrawled on her chest.
According to BFMTV, the numbers were “placed” on her body – meaning they weren’t painted or scratched on her skin.
A source said: “The suspect had boasted about selling body parts.
“Evidence suggests the girl was taken to the basement of the apartment where she was tortured and raped before being strangled and having her throat cut.”
The source added: “The suspect is believed to be suffering from serious mental health issues.
“She lived on the streets but had friends and family in the Paris area.”
A court source confirmed that Dahbia B was in custody and charged with “the murder of a child under the age of 15, rape and torture.”
The suspect was arrested at her sister’s home in the northern Paris suburb of Bois-Colombe on Saturday.
A 43-year-old man is also still in custody because he provided Dahbia B. with a car over the weekend.
He too faces charges in connection with the atrocity, according to a court source.
Dahbia B. has been remanded in custody, the source added.
A post-mortem on Saturday revealed that Lola died of asphyxiation after being physically assaulted in which a knife was used to cut her body.
CCTV footage from the building where Lola lived shows her carrying a school bag as she enters the building with Dahbia B.
Security camera footage was taken at 3.20pm on Friday and witnesses have also told police they saw Lola and Dahbia B. together.
A resident said he saw the suspect dragging the suitcase about two hours before Lola’s disappearance.
He said: “We saw her going into the building and she was dragging the suitcase with her. She seemed out of her mind.”
Others saw the suspect sip a coffee and eat a croissant as she “appeared to be trying to figure out what to do next”.
The girl’s father, who is caretaker of the building from which the 12-year-old disappeared, had begun to worry when the little girl failed to return home after school at 3pm on Friday.
At 5 p.m., her concerned mother went to the police station to report her missing.
She posted a picture of Lola with the message, “Our daughter Lola was last seen at our home at 3:20pm accompanied by a woman we do not know.”
The little girl’s father allegedly told police he saw his daughter in CCTV footage of her building in the presence of a woman in her 20s.
Later, around 11:30 p.m., a homeless man contacted police after tripping over the suitcase with the body inside.
