SEVILLA has fired coach Julen Lopetegui after three years at the club.
The Spanish side were beaten 4-1 by Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday night and have been winless in three European games so far this season.
They also had a nightmare start to their domestic season, finishing 17th in the LaLiga table after just one win in eight games.
And the Dortmund defeat was the last straw for Lopetegui as he was sacked by the Sevilla board less than an hour after the final whistle.
Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli is set to replace him.
Meanwhile, Lopetegui’s departure from Sevilla leaves the door open for him to join Wolves.
Bruno Lage was sacked by Molineux bosses at the weekend and Spaniard Lopetegui is the favorite to replace him.
Wanderers currently sit 18th in the Premier League table with just one win from their first eight games.
Lage was sacked after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat by West Ham.
Wolves bosses targeted Lopetegui six years ago when he almost became Fosun’s first head coach at Molineux.

On that occasion he was snatched away in the 11th hour to manage Spain national team but he has never lost his hunger to prove himself in the Premier League.
His solid organizational skills will appeal to Wolves, who have no intention of returning to the Championship and are determined to avoid a relegation battle.
Lopetegui is the high-quality, sure-footed pair of hands that Wolves bosses are longing for after guiding Sevilla to three top-four finishes in Spain.
He also defeated Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves in the 2020 UEFA Europa League quarter-finals en route to lifting the trophy.
