Winter Storm Scenarios Released This Weekend – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Warmer temperatures over the next few days could make it harder for our minds to swirl around the prospect of a winter storm that’s coming this weekend. Highs will be reached in the mid-40s on both Tuesday and Wednesday. This will lead to a lot of melting over the next 48 hours.

Wednesday, especially late, rain will develop. This rain will lead to the effects of our winter storm system later this week.
That rain, on current roads, appeared to turn to a mix of winter and cold rain early Thursday. This can lead to commuting problems if this time stays the same.

From there, this winter mix will turn to snow on Friday. Accumulation is possible with this. Winter storm warnings and warnings have been posted for northern and western areas. I predict the watch will be released locally at some point on Tuesday. As a reminder, the clock is changed to warning or advisory as the storm approaches.
The path of the low pressure center determines the location and type of precipitation. While there is some consensus among some of the models, we still have exceptions that leave some questions unanswered. Hopefully the next 24-hour model will begin to answer those questions.
Temperatures will be much colder around the weekend.
