RUSSIAN and Belarusian tennis stars are NOT allowed to compete at Wimbledon this year after Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
Athletes have already paid the price for Russia’s invasion of their neighboring country.
Russia was eliminated from the World Cup playoffs for the 2022 World Cup.
The women’s team is also not allowed to compete at this year’s European Championship.
And Belarusian athletes have also been punished for their country’s loyalty to Putin’s Russia.
According to the Daily Mail, the Wimbledon Main Committee has now also taken action.
The move was made ahead of the tournament’s scheduled annual press conference next week.
Russians and Belarusians are excluded from this year’s Grand Slam.
This means that men’s No. 2 Daniil Medvedev CANNOT compete.
The fourth in the women’s world rankings, Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus, will also miss the tournament from June 27th.
