The driver who attacked two children, killing them and injuring four others has been arrested and identified, authorities said.
Sean Charles Greer confessed to deputies and admitted that he was on probation at the time of the accident
Hours ago, Greer’s 2009 Honda Accord sedan was found by investigators. Detectives said physical evidence gave Greer, 27, who was booked on Tuesday night.
Witnesses at the scene said a speeding driver hit the children after circling a stopped bus.
One witness said: “He lost his patience and walked around the bus.
Andrea Fleming, 6, and Kylie Jones, 5, were pronounced dead at the scene. Draya Fleming, Laziyah Stokes, Johnathan Carter and Audre Fleming were taken to Broward Health Medical Center, reports CBSMiami.
Other children aged 1, 2, 6 and 9, were taken to an area hospital, according to Local 10.
One of the children was listed in critical condition, one was in good condition and the other was released.
“This has been a heartbreaking evening for everyone – for our family, friends and first responders,” said Miranda Grossman, PIO of the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
“When he cut me off, he went straight to the kids,” said bus driver Selvin Arjun.
Arjun said he let two passengers off the bus when he saw a gray Nissan speeding up in front of him.
“I don’t know if he couldn’t control the car because he was speeding, but he ran straight at those kids,” he said.
“How can you run past someone, even an animal, get out and look and then get back in the car and keep going?” one witness said.
The Wilton Manors Police Department confirmed on Twitter that traffic was closed in the 2600-1900 block of NW 9th Avenue.
