Willis ISD: Middle school football coach fired for injuring students

WILLIS, Texas (KTRK) — A Willis ISD middle school football coach was reportedly fired from his coaching position after several students were injured at an activity.

Details on this are limited, but the coach was relieved of his coaching duties after an extracurricular activity that left students with blisters, according to the district.

However, school officials say the coach, who happens to be a teacher, still teaches in the district despite being relieved of his middle school coaching duties.

When the news first broke on Friday, school officials gave no further details.

ABC13 continues to question the school district, including about the identity of the teacher. Eyewitness News will add updates as they become available.
