Will your documents be delivered at midnight on New Year’s Eve? Experts reveal the truth

AS EVERY OTHER YEAR comes to an end and a new one begins, it’s time to be flooded with happy new year messages every year.
While many people now use apps like WhatsApp to send well wishes, many still rely on the good old SMS messages.
Those who have given up on text messaging may remember an unexpected problem that happens every year.
Since everyone is sending messages at the same time, the network gets stuck and messages often take a while to complete.
Sometimes they will even come by the time you wake up on New Year’s Day.
Today, it is no longer a problem, as fewer people send messages each year.
More than 100 billion messages were sent via WhatsApp around the world on New Year’s Eve 2020, a record for the Meta-owned app.
A total of 900 million of that came from the UK.
Based on Statistical, text messages sent throughout 2020 in the UK alone fell to 48.68 billion, down from a peak of 150.83 billion in 2012.
However, SMS delays can still occur depending on your location and at any time.
It may be more of an issue than usual this year as people are likely to choose a quiet place on New Year’s Eve this year, due to the coronavirus.
An expert from USwitch.com told The Sun: “If you’re worried about your messages slipping through on New Year’s Eve, there are a few tricks you can use to get through the queue.
“Instead of sending texts, you can use messaging apps like WhatsApp or Messenger to send data over Wi-Fi, which won’t suffer from logjam like cellular networks.
“iPhone users can also send messages to other Apple users over Wi-Fi.
“Also, you can avoid a midnight rush by surreptitiously texting family and friends ten minutes or even an hour early.”
