Will Smith slammed for NOT apologizing to Chris Rock in Oscars acceptance speech after punching him during the fight

Will Smith is being criticized for not apologizing to Chris Rock in the Oscars acceptance speech minutes after beating him on stage.

The chaos began when the iconic standup comic made a joke about Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

After the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air graduate won Best Actor for his role as Richard Williams in King Richard, he took the stage and many expected him to apologize to Chris.

“Richard Williams was a fierce defender of his family,” Will began his speech.

He later added, “I want to apologize to the Academy, I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees… It’s a beautiful moment and I’m not crying because I won an award…”

“…Love will make you do crazy things,” Will said as he burst into tears during his speech.

The star concluded by saying he hopes “the academy invites me back”.

However, the A-lister didn’t mention or attack Chris, prompting many angry fans to take to Twitter and tear Will up.

One wrote: “Sorry Will Smith’s acceptance speech is no apology for his actions.”

Another said: “In Will Smith’s speech he says he was called to love people. Yes, by teaching them to turn the other cheek… after slapping them in the face.”

More reactions rolled in, with one chiming in: “During his extremely lengthy acceptance speech, Will Smith never apologized to Chris Rock for hitting him.”

Another added, “Will Smith go through with his acceptance speech with no mention of Chris Rock but a vague apology?”

“Oscar’s director is having a really hard time finding a cutaway of someone applauding or supporting Will Smith in this acceptance speech about him as ‘protector’ and ‘a river,'” said one fan.

SHOCK FIGHTING

While Hollywood’s biggest night ran smoothly, it came to a shocking end when Chris took the stage to present the Oscar for Best Documentary.

The former Saturday Night Live castmate then appeared to deviate from the script and target Will’s wife Jada.

“Jada I love you GI Jane 2 can’t wait to see it,” jokes Chris.

Demi Moore shaved her head for her role in the 1997 film.

Jada, on the other hand, has struggled with hair loss for years due to her alopecia diagnosis and decided last year to shave it all off.

WILL GO

Will then stormed the stage and punched the host in what at first looked like a stage play before everything took a turn.

The audio and video feed was then cut off for a few seconds, presumably as a war of expletives was being tossed back and forth.

However, the Australian show aired the shocking encounter between the two stars.

After the confrontation, a stunned Chris said, “Will Smith just kicked the shit out of me.”

When the video restarted, Will didn’t look pleased as he yelled at the comedian, “Keep my wife’s name out of your damn mouth.”

NO LAUGHING

A source revealed: “Someone who works for the Oscars told me that Chris Rock was not interrupted by Will Smith during rehearsals yesterday. It shouldn’t happen. It was real.”

During the commercial break, Will was reportedly pulled aside and comforted by Sean Combs and Tyler Perry.

Will seemed to wipe tears from his eyes when his fellow actors motioned for him to wipe them away.

In 2018, Jade opened up about her “hair loss struggles” during an episode of her Facebook Watch show Red Table Talk.

She explained: “When it started, it was terrifying. One day I was in the shower with only a handful of hair in my hands and I was like, ‘Oh my god, am I going bald?’

“It was one of those moments in my life where I was literally shaking with fear. That’s why I cut my hair and I still cut it…”
