Will new romantic comedy Rosaline stream on Netflix?

Ever wondered what a new, modern take on the infamous Romeo and Juliet story would look like? And with another character at the center? Well, we’re getting that story this fall! The new romantic comedy Rosaline comes to streaming. But is it on Netflix or another service?

The upcoming film stars Kaitlyn Dever as Rosaline, Isabela Merced as Juliet, Kyle Allen as Romeo, Sean Teale as Dario, Minnie Driver as Rosaline’s nurse, Bradley Whitford, Christopher McDonald and Spencer Stevenson.

Director Karen Maine took charge behind the camera, with Scott Neustadter and executive producer Michael H. Weber writing the screenplay. The production is based on the novel when you were mine by Rebecca Serle.

stranger things Producers Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen and Dan Levine are serving as producers on the project. Kaitlin Dever, Scott Neustadter, Whitney Brown, Emily Morris and Becca Edelman serve as executive producers.

Is Rosaline on Netflix?

Netflix did not produce Rosaline and the streaming service doesn’t add the film to its catalogue. The new film is a Hulu Original set to release on Friday, October 14th.

What is Rosaline about?

Just because it’s not on Netflix doesn’t mean you won’t find the production interesting. Right!?

The comedic twist is a retelling of William Shakespeare’s tragedy. But at the heart of the story is a character you wouldn’t expect – Rosaline. In the film, the title character is Romeo’s ex and Juliet’s cousin. As love blossoms between the couple, Rosaline is heartbroken. So she devises a way to separate them in order to win her husband back.

In Shakespeare’s play, Rosaline is actually an “invisible” character. She’s the one who doesn’t love Romeo back. But because of this, Romeo eventually goes to a gathering hosted by the Capulets and sees Juliet for the first time. But Hulu production does things differently, and we’re here for it!

Rosaline begins streaming on Hulu on Friday, October 14.
