This suspension comes after the NCAA investigated alleged violations against Jim.

“The Michigan violations case is related to improper on- and off-campus recruitment during the COVID-19 dead time and improper coaching activities,” Derrick Crawford, NCAA vice president of hearing operations, said in the statement.

Jim’s attorney, Tom Mars, responded to Derrick via social media when the NCAA reportedly said they could not speak on the case.

Tom said, “Per NCAA internal procedures and under penalty of penalty, Michigan, the coaches involved, and their attorneys are prohibited from commenting on this ongoing case. Still, the NCAA can issue a public statement expressing its opinion “is the case?”

During the Big Ten media days in July 2023, Jim broke his silence and said, “As you probably already know, I’m not permitted to speak about any aspect of this current situation.”

“I agree with you – I would like to disclose everything. Nothing to be ashamed of. But now is not the time for that. That’s about all there is to say about it.”

Jim is expected to return to coaching on September 23, 2023.
