Why was Glen Kuiper fired?

GLEN Kuiper has been fired by NBC Sports following an investigation into his on-air remarks.
Here’s everything you need to know about why veteran Oakland Athletics spokesman Glen was fired.
Who is Glen Kuiper?
Glen Kuiper, 60, was born on May 20, 1963 in Racine, Wisconsin.
The sports network was the primary play-by-play announcer for the MLB’s Oakland A’s from 2006 to 2023.
He announced the team’s games on NBC Sports California and sometimes speaks for the Oakland Athletics Radio Network.
Glen lives in Danville, California with his wife Amanda and children Jack and Annie.

The announcer previously played as an infielder for the Spokane Indians and Erie Cardinals in minor league baseball.
He has also worked as an NFL sideline reporter, covering the NHL’s San Jose Sharks and the NBA’s Golden State Warriors.
His older brother is former Cleveland Indians and San Francisco Giants second baseman Duane “Kuip” Kuiper, who is also now a broadcaster.
Why was Glen Kuiper fired?
On Friday, May 5, 2023, Glen Kuiper used a racial slur on the show when he made a racial slur with commentator Dallas Braden before the game at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri sports news.
At the time, he was discussing a visit to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.
The following day, Kuiper was suspended indefinitely, a spokesman for NBC Sports California announced.
On May 6th on Oakland A’s “Communications” Twitter page called: “The language used by Glen Kuiper during today’s pre-game broadcast is unacceptable.”
“The Oakland Athletics do not condone such language. We are working to address the situation.”
NBC Sports California announced on May 22, 2023 that Kuiper would no longer be working for the network following an internal investigation.
A spokesman said: “Following an internal review, the decision has been made that NBC Sports California is ending its relationship with Glen Kuiper, effective immediately.”
“We thank Glen for his years of dedication to baseball in the Bay Area.”
Bob Kendrick, director of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, said, “I’m aware of Glen Kuiper’s unfortunate insult.”
“I welcomed Glen to NLBM yesterday and I know he was really looking forward to being here. The word is painful and has no place in our society.”
“And while I don’t pretend to know Glen’s heart, I know my heart is filled with forgiveness.
“I hope you all find the strength to do the same!”
What did Glen Kuiper say as an apology?
Glen Kuiper apologized during the sixth inning of the same baseball game between the Oakland Athletics and the Kansas City Royals.
He said, “I said something a little earlier in the show, but it didn’t quite come out the way I wanted it to.”

“I just wanted to apologize if it sounded different than what I meant to say. I just wanted to apologize for that.”
The broadcaster later said: “I couldn’t be more saddened and horrified by what I said. I hope you will accept my sincere apologies.”
