DEAN HENDERSON will be disappointed he won’t be able to play against Manchester United as the face of Nottingham Forest.
The 25-year-old came through the ranks at Old Trafford before establishing himself as one of England’s finest goalkeepers.
His loan spells at Sheffield United led Henderson to believe he deserved to become Manchester United’s number one.
However, after failing to oust David De Gea, he finds himself at Nottingham Forest and WILL NOT be able to play against United.
Why isn’t Dean Henderson playing for Nottingham Forest vs Man Utd?
Eagle-eyed fans will have noticed that Henderson is not on the pitch against the Red Devils.
Although he will be disappointed he cannot prove himself against Erik ten Hag’s side, he knew that before the season.
Henderson opted for a loan to Steve Cooper’s Forest.
And the terms of a loan deal within the same league mean the borrower cannot play against their parent club.
We’ve seen this several times in the past, including when current Forest and former United player Jesse Lingard was on loan at West Ham in the past.
This is just a rule for the Premier League, while if Forest were to face United in the League Cup (which is a possibility if both teams are in the last eight), the Red Devils could give Henderson permission to play them.
