ZAC Efron fans were shocked in 2021 when the star appeared in a video where his chin looked VERY different.

In September 2022, the High School Musical actor revealed why his appearance changed so much, which caused the internet to crash.

Why is Zac Efron’s jaw trending?

Back in April 2021, Zac took part in a video promoting Earth Day, in which various famous faces made cameos.

However, it was the actor’s performance that really got people talking.

Zac appeared in the clip wearing a gray t-shirt, but it was his slightly swollen face, prominent jaw and visibly more prominent lip that shocked viewers, and they took to Twitter to respond.

One person wrote, “What did they do to Zac Efron’s face,” while another added, “Zac Efron…no baby…no…”

People weren’t done there when one chimed in, “There’s NO WAY this is Zac Efron WHAT,” while another wrote, “No way is that really Zac Efron…”

Now, almost a year and a half later (September 2022), the topic has come up again.

The reason Zac’s jaw is trending again is because he finally addressed what really happened to his face and why he looked so different.

What did Zac Efron say about his face?

On September 7, 2022, Zac finally set the record for his facial transformation, a year after it sparked plastic surgery rumors.

The actor told Men’s Health in its October 2022 cover story that he shattered his jaw while running around his house with his socks on.

Zac has revealed that he slipped, hit the corner of a fountain, passed out and woke up to his “chin bone… hanging off his face.”

He said that when he was injured, the masseter muscles on the inside of his face and jaw then “compensated” for his injury, causing them to increase in size – hence his notable transformation.

The actor said this explained why he looked so different back then, telling the magazine: “The masseters just grew. They just got really, really big.”

Zac also claimed he was unaware that he was a huge topic of conversation on social media and had actually gone viral because of his different looking jaw until his mom called to ask if he’d been put under the knife.
