When did Grace VanderWaal first become famous?

Grace VanderWaal rose to fame in 2016 after winning the eleventh season of America’s Got Talent.

During her audition for the TV competition, the star sang an original song about identity called “I Don’t Know My Name.”

She was chosen by one of the show’s judges, Howie Mandel, as his “golden buzzer“Action to skip the next round and appear in the live quarterfinal round.

VanderWaal signed a record deal with Columbia Records in September 2016 and released her debut EP Perfectly Imperfect on December 2, 2016.

In early 2019, VanderWaal recorded her first soundtrack song “Hideaway” for the animated film Wonder Park and made several tour stops with her in the southeastern United States Florence and the machine in June this year.

She then stunned fans when she embarked on an acting career in 2020, playing the lead role of Susan “Stargirl” Caraway on Disney+’s Stargirl.
