Why is BTS taking a break?

Every year, the members of BTS hold their annual FESTA dinner to celebrate their founding.

At the 2022 event, they announced they were going on hiatus as a band to pursue solo careers.

“I always thought BTS was different from other groups, but the problem with K-pop and the whole ‘idol’ system is that they don’t give you time to mature,” RM said via Deadline.

“You have to keep making music and doing something.”

Despite the split, the band assured fans that doing so will only make them stronger.

“We should spend some time apart to learn to be one again,” added J-Hope.

“I hope you don’t see this as something negative and see it as a healthy plan. BTS is getting stronger this way.”

At the FESTA dinner, the band took time to reminisce about their journey together, with Suga emphasizing the break, saying, “It’s not like we’re breaking up.”

Previously, BTS took a vacation break in December 2021 to spend time with their families.
