THE ASHES is underway and Joe Root’s side are looking to hit back after their defeat to Gabba.
Now it’s coming to Adelaide with Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad expected to return for tourists.
The action will get underway in the early morning of December 16th – and this Quiz will use a pink ball.
Why is a pink balloon used?
The traditional red ball is too hard to pick up in full light.
White balls are often seen in limited cricket clashes with player kits and screens.
The normal red balls are dyed to achieve their color, while the white and pink balls are painted.
Will the ball behave differently?
The player insists that the pink ball goes quickly.
They also report that it can be expected to fluctuate more.
This air movement increases as natural light fades.
When will pink shadows be used in The Ashes?
Pink ball is mainly used for day / night test, so it can be used morning and night.
It will therefore be used for the second Adelaide Test, which takes place at 4am GMT on Thursday, December 16.
That match is the only scheduled day/night of the series so the usual red Kookaburra will be used for the rest of the series.
