Why has Luton Town postponed their first Premier League home game?

LUTON TOWN made it into the Premier League for the first time in their history last season.
The Hatters defeated Coventry City on penalties in a dramatic play-off final at Wembley Stadium.

The Hatters will compete in the top flight at the same home they had in non-league, the legendary Kenilworth Road.
Why did Luton Town postpone their first Premier League game?
Luton Town have had to postpone their Premier League opening game against Burnley as Kenilworth Road will not be ready in time for opening day.
The club’s statement read: “Luton Town Football Club have reluctantly requested that their first home game of the 2023/24 season against Burnley be postponed from the scheduled date of Saturday 19 August.”
“Kenilworth Road is undergoing a program of major ground improvements to be ready to host Premier League football, including the construction of a new stand to accommodate broadcasting and media needs.
“While the ongoing work is progressing very well and is currently ahead of schedule, the Premier League understandably needs guarantees on their fixture schedule with sufficient timeframe to notify fans and broadcasters in advance of any changes.”
“Due to the scale of the project, the club cannot offer fans an absolute guarantee that future unforeseen issues will not cause delays that could potentially impact the planned opening game at home.”
“Therefore all parties together with the Premier League and Burnley FC felt this was a reasonable result giving fans of both teams ample time to plan the now free weekend and then make travel arrangements for the new date.”
“Both clubs will inform their fans of the new date as soon as possible.”
