Following the controversial onstage incident between Will Smith and Chris Rock at the 94th Oscars in March 2022, Smith has publicly apologized to Rock for hitting him onstage.

However, Smith again issued a public apology in a video he uploaded to his social media platforms, in which he apologized to Chris and Questlove.

In the six-minute video, which was released on July 29, 2022, he apologized to Questlove and explained that the slap overshadowed the attention that Questlove should have been given – since the incident happened when Rock was giving the musician and producer an award presented.

In the video, Will said, “I can still see Questlove’s eyes. It happened at Questloves award and [saying] I’m sorry, that really isn’t enough.”

Questlove won the Best Documentary award that night for his work on Summer of Soul.
