Why did Shake Shack skip Atlantic County NJ? Open letter

I have to be honest. I’m so happy to see a few more Shake Shack restaurants springing up in Jersey, I’m envious that one still hasn’t CLOSED for me!

Not long ago, a Shake Shack Opens at Monmouth Service Center off Garden State Parkway. And, now also have locations in Marlton and Cherry Hill. But, a little further south would be nice! Atlantic Nuts NEED their own Shake Shack! So it hurts me to write this letter, here it is.

Dear Shake Shack (and the founder Danny Meyer, if you’re reading this),

I love you. I may be your biggest fan. I had my first Shake Shack experience in Chicago a few years ago, and was immediately hooked. Then any chance I get to visit New York, I’ll find you. I have something to order: Single Shack Burger, French fries, Salted Caramel Milkshake. DIVERSITY. Not to mention, I love everything you stand for.

Imagine my enthusiasm when you opened a location in Philadelphia followed by Marlton and Cherry Hill! I live near the South Jersey coast, so it makes me sick to know you’re just an HOUR away by car! Totally doable.

But it was BETTER. You set up shop inside the Wells Fargo Center in Philly, where I fell in love with you THREE TIMES IN ONE WEEK during the summer of 2018 at concerts and sporting events, and many times since.

You’ve expanded to Marlton and more recently Cherry Hill. Closer to me all the time! I considered it NBD on Valentine’s Day a couple of years ago when driving from Bridgeton to Cherry Hill during rush hour. Even 90 minutes of solid brake lights couldn’t stop me from leaving my one true love: Shake Shack.

You’ve recently joined other eateries at Citizens Bank Park, where the Phillies play. But when do I get there? Almost never.

So, in closing, I ask this: Why did you skip Atlantic County?

Shake Shack, there are MANY casinos here where you will clean the house! Not to mention three world famous skateboards! I imagine myself munching on a Shack Burger with Atlantic City’s Steel Pier in the background on a warm summer night. Atlantic City also has outdoor shopping! And in my eyes, shopping and Shake Shack go together perfectly! Oh, I also live near Stockton College in Pomona, and I bet college kids LOVE Shake Shack, just saying.

NO ONE on earth makes a better hamburger. You have invented the BEST French fries in the world (crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and never greasy). You are part of the upper and many other areas of South Jersey, including Atlantic County, are ready to give you affection.

I’m really just hovering and whining that you couldn’t get any closer. I continue to wish and hope. Monmouth, Marlton, and Cherry Hill are not far from where I live in the Atlantic District. And maybe I should take it as a sign of good things to come, but I’m impatient. I can taste the Shack Burger and it’s the perfect secret sauce on my tongue as I type this.

Shake Shack is now as famous as Salt Water Taffy. That’s why you and (potentially) Atlantic City were made for each other.

Just know that, if you end up building more stores in South Jersey, I’ll be the first in line and the OFTEN line. Even if I have to add running to my daily routine.

Love is always,

Heather DeLuca
P.S. You can ease my heartbreak by sending me a gift card. Laugh out loud. Just kidding. Not really. Yes really.

Once upon a time, the Echelon Shopping Center in Voorhees was a premier shopping destination. Let’s go back in time and remember what it was like in all its glory.

19 stores we miss shopping for school clothes

When we think of shopping for clothes to go back to school, we think of fighting with mom. JK, lol. Don’t have EVERY child though? We look back at the stores we missed. Why did Shake Shack skip Atlantic County NJ? Open letter
