Why did Dolly Parton turn down a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination?

On Monday, March 14, 2022, Dolly Parton taken to Instagram to announce that she has officially retired from Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nominations in 2022.

“It’s Dolly! While I’m incredibly proud and grateful to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I don’t feel like I’ve earned that right,” she wrote.

“I really don’t want the votes split because of me, so I have to bow respectfully.”

Dolly continued: “I hope that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will understand and be willing to reconsider me – if I am worthy.”

“However, this spurred me on to make a great rock ‘n’ roll album full of hope at some point in the future, which I’ve always wanted to do!”

The 76-year-old star added: “My husband is a rock ‘n’ roll fanatic and has always encouraged me to do it. I wish all the nominees good luck and thank you again for the words. praise”.

“Do your best,” concluded Dolly.

What are the requirements for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?

To qualify for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, an artist or band must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before they are nominated.

The Hall of Fame inductees will be announced in May 2022, with the annual celebration held in the fall.
